“It’s been great, but it’s been crazy,” Renato’s Florist employee Olivia Archer said.
Despite the cost of living crunch, local florists said they hadn’t seen a decline in demand this year.
Ms Archer said the store had additional staff working on Friday, February 14.
She said the number of orders seemed relatively similar to past years.
Demand was so high for roses that the store ran out relatively early in the day.
And it’s not just romantic partners that people in the local community are celebrating.
“It’s really nice to see people getting flowers for friends, family, and parents,” Ms Archer said.
At Blossom With Love, staff worked until the wee hours of Friday morning preparing orders, and continued to get calls and walk-ins throughout the day.
“The orders are coming through thick and fast,” employee Melissa Napier said.
Ms Napier estimated the store had received roughly 500 orders for Valentine’s Day, beginning last week.
She said one customer bought two sets of a dozen roses for his employees, and a large arrangement for his aunt.
Ms Napier said another customer comes in annually to get flowers for his spouse of more than 60 years.
Florists in the area expected to continue receiving orders throughout the afternoon.
