Police laid 693 charges and seized 43 firearms and $1 million in cash last week as part of a national week of action.
Police said with a particular focus on drugs, firearms, weapons and explosives, each state and territory proactively targeted its own highest priority issues, with concentrated disruption, enforcement and compliance activity undertaken.
Detectives from Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit seized items including guns, air rifles, an imitation firearm, silencer, ammunition and another weapon from a Shepparton house.
A 38-year-old Shepparton man, already the subject of a firearm prohibition order, was charged with carrying a firearm related item - namely cartridge ammunition - while being subject to a firearms prohibition order, and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
A search at that man’s house saw another man charged with firearms offences after guns and other items were seized from a car police allege is his.
Utilising almost 2100 police officers from around the country, the week of action led to 159 arrests, 693 charges and the seizure of 43 firearms and 22 weapons.
About $1 million in cash was seized, as were 11 vehicles.
Drugs in various quantities were also seized.
In total, 71 search warrants were executed nationwide, alongside 252 firearm prohibition order compliance searches.
A further 15 firearm prohibition orders were served.
Victoria Police State Anti-Gangs Division Detective Superintendent Jason Kelly said police would continue to use their full range of capabilities to proactively target outlaw motorcycle gangs at every opportunity.
“Our message to OMCGs and their facilitators is clear — we are working together, and we will be relentless. We will not stop,” he said.
