The house on Tassone Crt was fully alight when firefighters arrived within minutes of the 3.55 am call-out.
Wearing breathing apparatuses, Shepparton Fire and Rescue and CFA firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire at the brick veneer home.
An FRV spokesperson said the fire was declared under control 15 minutes after crews arrived.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Matt Clowes said no-one was home at the time of the fire.
Eight firefighters and three firetrucks were deployed to fight the blaze and were able to stop it spreading to any other nearby properties.
Det Sen Constable Clowes said police investigations to determine the cause of the fire were ongoing.

● The roof of a backyard pergola was damaged in a separate fire in Shepparton on Sunday night.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Acacia St about 9.45 pm.
It is believed the fire started when a wood heater in the pergola became hot in the roof cavity area.
The pergola roof was damaged.
