These are among the raft of contracts and tenders being considered — or have recently been awarded — that Greater Shepparton City councillors noted at a meeting this week.
About $140000 has been awarded for the construction of a temporary Hawdon St bus interchange.
City engineer Phil Hoare said the majority of the works had been completed and the bus interchange was now operational, but that shelters would be installed and construction completed.
Meanwhile, tenders are currently being evaluated for the first two stages of the Verney Rd-Balaclava Rd intersection upgrade.
‘‘We had in the order of $2.5million allocated in current financial year’s budget for (the project),’’ Mr Hoare said.
‘‘The water main relocation (works) are occurring now.’’
He said the intersection upgrade would span a number of financial years, with additional budget allocation expected in the 2019/20 financial year.
‘‘We’re saying this is a project that will take up to 12 months from the start of the works,’’ Mr Hoare said.
The council also recently advertised a tender for a provision of a affordable housing development.
No submissions were received by the initial closing date and the council has extended the deadline further.
‘‘Council officers are confident that council will receive fee proposals for this work shortly,’’ a council statement read.
Tenders have also closed for contracts covering the refurbishment of both the Toolamba Bridge and the Watt Rd Bridge and are being evaluated.
Almost $1.4million of interim works will be undertaken to ensure two old bridges in Greater Shepparton can remain usable until the end of their natural lives.
But replacement is still firmly on the agenda in the next decade for both bridges, at the cost of about $7million each.
Mr Hoare this week estimated about $16 million of the $46million capital works budget for the 2018/19 financial year had been spent to date.
But that typically the bulk of this tended to be spent towards the latter part of the year.
Cr Chris Hazelman drew attention to the volume of infrastructure projects looming at this week’s meeting.
