Band secretary Leona Gibbs said the musicians were excited to return to the stage, following the region’s struggles last year.
“We are very pleased to be back performing again, as we have had a very difficult time the last few years,” she said.
“We were back on our feet finally after COVID only to have our annual October concert cancelled the week of, due to the floods impacting the region.
“We love to play in smaller towns around Shepparton, as we have such a friendly and appreciative audience that attend.”
The performances are part of Riverlinks’ long running ‘In Your Town’ series, which financially supports the band, allowing it to perform in smaller towns within the region. Riverlinks’ support goes towards advertising, sound technicians, location hiring and providing the band members with food at every performance.
The band is led by musical director Lachlan Gallagher, and consists of approximately 35 members, with ages ranging from 17 to over 80.
The band will play a range of music styles, from Mozart to Glenn Miller. This year the band members are pulling their focus to their solos, featuring solo numbers, a trombone trio and contest pieces from their state championship-winning program.
The Dookie Memorial Hall set will begin at 2.30pm, as will the Sunday, March 26 event at the Tatura Victory Hall.
Entry at both performances is by gold coin donation.
