Construction of the Shepparton BMX Club Multi-Use Events Pavilion is progressing well, with local workers and subcontractors leading the development of the two-storey facility.
The pavilion, funded by the Victorian Government's Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, is scheduled for completion ahead of the 2025 AusCycling BMX National Series’ round one and two events over April 26 and 27.
Local Shepparton company Moretto Building Pty Ltd is managing the construction, having engaged 22 local businesses and employed 28 full-time workers.
The new facility will feature accessible and all-gender toilets, meeting spaces, storage, first-aid facilities, catering amenities, a flexible event space and an outdoor viewing area.
"The Shepparton BMX Club Multi-Use Events Pavilion will be a game-changer for sport in our region,“ City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said.
“It will ensure we are ready and able to host world-class BMX events, attracting riders and spectators not just nationally, but internationally as well.”
The development is part of broader improvements, including track enhancements and upgraded lighting at the Shepparton Cycling Velodrome.
The velodrome hosted a successful Christmas Track Cycling Carnival in December 2024.
