The Corowa Saleyards are preparing for the fifth annual sheep drive in support of the Good Friday Appeal, with local sheep producers invited to donate sheep or lambs to be sold on Monday, March 27.
All proceeds from the sale will benefit the works of the Royal Children's Hospital, with over $70,000 already raised since 2019.
The event has become one of the major annual fundraising activities for the local branch, thanks to the generosity of local farmers and the efforts of the region's livestock agents.
Sheep farmer and local area manager for the Corowa Wahgunyah Good Friday Appeal Karie Playford said the Sheep Drive was started as a way for the rural community to support the Appeal.
"Despite our distance from Melbourne, so many local families have a personal connection to the Royal Children's Hospital," Karie said.
"They understand the vital role that the hospital plays in providing world-class healthcare to our region's children, and we believe that is why people are willing and generous in their support of the Good Friday Appeal."
With agents and Federation Council waiving commissions and yard fees for donated sheep, and buyers being generous in their bidding, all proceeds from the sale of the sheep go directly to the Good Friday Appeal.
Livestock producers wanting to donate sheep should contact their agent. Donations of livestock will also be accepted at the sale on Monday, April 3.
