In a visit to Corowa last week, Farrer MP Sussan Ley has promised a coalition government would commit $14,000 towards upgrades to the SHE Shed.
Corowa and District She SHED was established in 2017 as a local haven for women to learn, create and connect.
From its first home in a local’s garage, in 2023 it moved to a permanent home in Corowa’s western industrial area, and now hopes to add a mezzanine floor to the facility.
Ms Ley said $14,000 would cover majority of an estimated $18,000 project.
SHE Shed President, Barbara Farrar, said a growing membership and recent equipment purchases from donations meant the SHE Shed needed more space and storage capacity.
The funds would allow for improved lighting to be installed and the tool room to be enclosed.
“I’ve seen first-hand the immense value of a space where women can come together, learn new skills, share stories and experiences, all of which strengthen the Corowa and district community,” Ms Ley said.
“Among the top priorities of a Liberal Government is to grow a stronger regional Australia.
“Ensuring country communities have the essential services they need is all part of our plan to get Australia back on track.
