Former Finley Golf Club captain Sharon Pyle was thrilled and excited to have an ace on the par 3, 122m 13th on the local course during last Wednesday’s competition.

Her playing partners, including Helen Wastle, couldn’t wait to get into the clubhouse to help her celebrate.
Of course, it’s not the first hole-in-one Sharon has had.
She also aced the par 3, 155m 3rd hole back in 2015.

The Langunyah-Finley branch of Red Cross is hosting the 2023 zone 29 conference at the Finley Golf Club on Thursday, May 25.
It begins with morning tea at 9.30am and is expected to end at approximately 2pm.
Lunch will be available for $20.
Present and former Red Cross members and members of the public are welcome to attend.
Guest speaker John Hand will give a talk during the morning session relating to the Finley RSL Sub-branch memorabilia collection at the Finley RS Club.
Following lunch the afternoon speakers will be from Red Cross in Wagga.
At 1pm Kate Johansen will be speaking on emergency services, and at 1.30pm Megan Norton will have information about administration.

Local resident Lorraine Edwards has just returned from a delightful nine-day cruise to help her sister-in-law, Valerie Clark, celebrate her 80th birthday.
Lorraine and Val departed from Sydney on the Carnival Splendor, which is an American ship registered in Panama.
It is big enough to house 4499 passengers and 1200 crew, and Lorraine can’t speak highly enough of the cleanliness and the manner in which they were attended to.
First stop was at Noumea where they were allowed to investigate the local attractions for the day.
Then it was on to Mystery Island. Cruise ships are not able to dock there so the passengers were tendered ashore.
This small island, which is completely uninhabited, was used as an allied landing strip during World War II.
Today, it is visited by the locals, who live on Tanna Island, each day to spread their warmth, culture and wares.
The next island visited was Lifou, which proved fascinating, before returning to Noumea.
This time, Lorraine and Val hired a local guide who, to quote Lorraine, showed them “the good, the bad and the ugly”.
However, they were particularly impressed with the variety of architecture of the various constructions.
As usual, all good things eventually come to an end and the ladies returned home tired but captivated by all they had seen.
One thing Lorraine was impressed by, apart from meeting the ship’s captain Faucci, is what a small world we live in.
It was amazing the number of people she met, both on board and off, who knew of Finley and the various small towns in our local area.

A very successful fundraiser for brain cancer awareness and the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation was held at Finley's Log Cabin and Museum on May 7.
A chilly morning saw approximately 20 vehicles travel on the Mystery Cruise, which left the museum around 9.30am.
Members from other car clubs joined in the drive to 'The Drop', on to Berrigan, Jerilderie and returned to Finley Log Cabin and Museum
A three course barbecue lunch was then enjoyed by about 70 people, followed by the drawing of the raffles.
Some prizes included a fire pit, fuel vouchers and a quality array of donated goods from local businesses.
A silent auction was held for a Harrows fire pit and a handmade patchwork quilt.
The fire pit went for a good price but unfortunately the quilt didn't reach the reserve price.
The organisers have expressed a huge thanks to the Museum and Log Cabin for the use of the venue, the Southern Riverina Vehicle and Machinery Club as the major sponsor and the volunteers who assisted right from the initial concept through to the day.
Thanks were also expressed to the many local businesses who donated prizes and cash donations, and the local community for its support.
Donations from as far away as Maleny, Queensland, Perth, Western Australia and Broken Hill added to the success of the fundraiser.
Some raffle winners were Graham Close, Sandra Gray, Mick Maxwell, Laurie Fyffe, Kerry Osborn, Michael Walsh (Ferg) Julie Congram and Colleen Braybon.
This event raised just over $5,000 with a few donations still to come in.

The Finley Lions Club wood raffle last Saturday was won by Terry Koschel.
These members are great to have a chat with, and can also give some good advice when asked. Thanks guys.
