Directed by artistic director Peter Evans, the production takes Shakespeare’s classic comedy and bestows it new life.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream is very special to me, and whether you are revisiting an old friend in this play or are brand new to Shakespeare, it is a play to treasure,” Mr Evans said.
“We set a galloping pace as each of the three interwoven storylines play out, heightening the hilarity as misunderstandings give way to chaos.
“It truly is a play everyone can enjoy.”
Evan collaborated with fight, intimacy and movement director Nigel Poulton to delve into the play within the play and explore the illusion of theatre and performance itself.
The result is a highly physical production performed by eight actors covering multiple roles that promises to whisk audiences away on a whirlwind journey.
Riverlinks manager Matthew Schroeders expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming performance.
“We are thrilled to host Bell Shakespeare, Australia’s national theatre company specialising in the works of Shakespeare and his contemporaries,” he said.
“This modern take on the classical play is sure to be loved by people of the Goulburn Valley.”
