Seymour’s Ally celebrates 100th birthday

A Barrabill House spokesperson said Ally had the time of her life.

“Ally’s daughter Wendy and son John travelled down from Queensland,” the spokesperson said.

“And her granddaughter Kellie joined her to celebrate the remarkable achievement of reaching 100 years of age.”

Ally spent most of her life in Wollongong in NSW and worked at Bonds as a machinist before she married Brian in 1942.

They had a very happy marriage until Brian passed away at the age of 57.

They had three children and then five grandchildren.

“Ally was a fantastic mother and was a great cook, however she hated gardening,” the spokesperson said.

“She loved dogs and had many pets over the years. Ally has always enjoyed music and was an avid reader until her eyesight failed.

“Her most redeeming characteristic is her wicked sense of humour and banter enjoyed by all the staff at Barrabill House.”

The spokesperson said Ally was amazed at how many people signed her birthday card.

“She said she feels very blessed,” the spokesperson said.

“All the staff here at Barrabill House look forward to celebrating more birthdays with our beloved Ally.”
