More than 30 local business representatives met at the Seymour Racecourse to explore workforce opportunities on the Inland Rail project at an Inland Rail Skills Academy (IRSA) event on Tuesday, May 16.
They heard how government agencies and employment services could help businesses grow or upskill their staff through apprenticeships and traineeships.
Local excavation operators, accommodation providers, engineering services, fleet managers, and jobs, skills and training providers all received an overview of the Inland Rail project.
A snapshot of the local labour market was provided and potential support from the Australian Government for those that take on apprentices and trainees was discussed.
There was a meet and greet opportunity with other business representatives and construction contractor, McConnell Dowell also provided first-hand knowledge from working on the project.
