But now, the Goulburn Valley Quilters members have put the sewing pedal to the metal to bring their biannual Quilt Exhibition back to the region.
The group has six years of quilting works to display at the exhibition on Saturday, March 18 and Sunday, March 19.
Prepare for the Mechanics Institute on Wyndham St, Shepparton to be draped with cloths of colour and style, as GV Quilters president Gael Thompson said her group was itching to get a-stitching.
“The exhibition invites our passionate members to show any quilts they’ve made since the last exhibition,” she said.
“We have 66 quilts entered this year ... and all will be hung around the room for people to wander and have a look, get inspired!”
Viewers will have the opportunity to select their favourite large and small quilt for the Viewers’ Choice Award.
The quilts with the most votes will receive a prize donated by Shepparton Sewing Centre.
Attendees could also take home a win, with a potential three raffle prizes to be drawn on the Sunday at 3pm.
The lucky winners will receive a quilt, bag or table runner, and all proceeds from the raffle go towards FoodShare, a not-for-profit organisation that distributes food to local school and emergency relief agencies in the GV.
A win-win, or sew they say.
Doors are open Saturday, March 18 from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday, March 19 from 11am to 4pm.
Entry to the exhibition is $8 for adults and free for children accompanied by an adult.
