In the latest round of Transgrid’s Community Partnerships Program, 70 community groups have received grants for a wide range of initiatives.
Local projects to receive grants are:
• Argoon RFS Brigade for brigade equipment.
• Cancer Patients Assistance Society of NSW Coleambally Can Assist for meal vouchers.
• Coleambally Community Club for sprinkler system automation.
• Coleambally Preschool for a baby outdoor play area.
• Coleambally Rescue Squad Inc for a safety equipment upgrade.
• Country Education Foundation of Coleambally-Darlington Point Inc to support beyond secondary school education.
• Yanco Creek and Tributaries Advisory Council Inc for its Nursery for Nature project, which supports wetland planting for restoration.
Specific funding amounts have not been released.
Transgrid executive general manager of stakeholder, regulatory and corporate affairs Maryanne Graham said the grants demonstrate the company’s commitment to “maximising social and economic benefits in local communities across our network and in areas where new clean energy transmission projects are being delivered”.
“These not-for-profit groups are the lifeblood of their local communities, and we are proud to support initiatives that make a positive difference in the lives of local residents.
“This round of grants will fund facilities, equipment, services, events, programs and activities, helping to empower not-for-profit groups and volunteers and enrich the local communities they serve.
“Transgrid is pleased to be contributing to the long-term sustainability of regional New South Wales and leaving a lasting and meaningful legacy in local communities.”
Transgrid is the company working to establish an overhead powerline network between Jerilderie and Swan Hill, known as the VNI West line.
A proposed route has been submitted, and environmental impact statements are being undertaken.
