Senator Price slams Labor’s ‘taxpayer waste’ in visit to Echuca

Northern Territory Senator Jacinta Price firmly outlined her position on the upcoming federal election during her recent visit to Echuca.

Senator Price got a taste of the twin towns on Sunday, March 3 when she and her musician husband, Colin Lillie, joined Federal Member for Nicholls Sam Birrell on stage in Echuca.

As Australia gears up for the election, politicians are actively engaging with communities nationwide.

Senator Price’s tour of northern Victoria began in Bendigo earlier that weekend and ended in Echuca.

Following a musical performance assisted by Mr Birrell on the guitar, and a Murray River tour guided by Kyabram P-12 College chaplain Liz Spicer, Senator Price delved into political discussions.

“Australia has suffered devastating taxpayer waste under the Albanese Labor Government,” she said.

“All this waste has made inflation and the cost-of-living crisis significantly worse, and all of us are now paying the price.

“That’s why it is more important than ever to cut government waste and ensure the government is operating as effectively and efficiently as possible — and I will.”

She told crowds at the weekend, if elected to government, the “attack on accountability” across the board would begin.

Senator Price said her new responsibility as shadow minister for government efficiencies complemented the work she would continue to do as shadow minister for Indigenous Australians.

“I look forward to tackling the task of increasing efficiency more broadly and ensuring government priorities align with the priorities of everyday Australians — because that’s who we work for.”

The trip was hosted by Ms Spicer, who took Senator Price and her husband on the PS Pevensey paddle steamer down the Murray.

“Jacinta and Colin were fantastic to meet and work with and turned out to be a very genuine and very dedicated couple to her role on the federal stage — and hopefully soon in government,” Ms Spicer said.
