Shepparton hosted the first Treaty Day Out concert on Yorta Yorta country in February and now the assembly has announced a second concert will be held in Bendigo, on Dja Dja Wurrung country, on Saturday, October 1.
Goulburn Valley locals returning to the line-up include Yorta Yorta stars Briggs and Scott Darlow, from Shepparton, and Madi Colville-Walker, from Echuca Moama.
Dan Sultan, No Fixed Address, Marlon x Rulla, Kee’ahn, Nooky, Bumpy and MC Kevin Kropinyeri complete the line-up.
The concerts aim to promote the Treaty process being pursued between the Victorian Government and Traditional Owners while also encouraging eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in Victoria to join the Aboriginal Electoral Roll administered by the assembly.
Any Traditional Owner of Country in Victoria, who is 16 years and older, is eligible to enrol, along with any Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person from interstate, as long as they have lived in Victoria for at least three of the past five years.
Enrollees can vote in assembly elections, to pick the members who will represent them in the Treaty process.
Tickets to the festival are free for First Nations people who are enrolled with the assembly, and are available to purchase by the broader public.
