A trio of teams has created a logjam at the highest rung of the ladder, with Old Students, McEwen Reserve White and Shepparton North locked on 20 points after six rounds.
North put in an imposing performance against Karramomus on Saturday, winning 6-48 to 3-24.
The Bloods were well served by the likes of Marie Levett-Hall and Stephanie and Katharina Veal in the clash, but Clark Pettigrew, Dean Pritchett, Evan Cooknell, Georgie Moore, Mikaela Cullum and Wendy Sidebottom steered North towards success.
The Students had the bye in round six, jumping up with North alongside White — which went down to McEwen Reserve Opal — in the process.
Opal sits four points behind the top three after having the better of the Friday night derby clash against White, 5-42 to 4-31.
It was in the women's doubles rubbers where Opal held sway — relying on Lynette Gibbs, Kerry Walker and Debbie Hosie to give it the advantage — while White hit back in the mixed sets.
John Evans and Samantha Excell joined forces to great effect — as did Ayden Graham and Kathleen Davies — but the Opal's Ben Ladson and Walker ensured their side would finish the match triumphant.
In the other fixture of the round, Lemnos came as close as it possibly could to snaring its first points of the season without actually getting there.
A gripping 39-all draw on games against Central Park showed the competitiveness of the Lemnos outfit — but with only four sets to the Parkers’ five the side still had to leave the round empty-handed.
The pairings of Peter Jeffery and Trenna McNair and Chris McNair and Julie McClelland each snared 6-2 mixed doubles results to have Lemnos roaring home in the contest, but Central Park's Neil Evans and Andrea Graham held their nerve in their own 6-2 result to claim victory by the barest of margins.
