The service nominated Ms Reeves, who has been teaching at Corowa Preschool for over 20 years, who was awarded the prestigious Barb Withers Sustainability Award for 2024.
“Tara’s team, colleagues, service, family, friends and community are extremely proud,“ pre-school director Chelsea Wright, who nominated Tara, said.
“To know someone as dedicated as Tara to teach, inspire, and advocate for sustainable practices is exciting to be around.”
Up against four individual nominees and one service, Tara was shocked to be nominated and receive the award, as what seems to her like everyday practice is something unique.
She expressed her thanks for the support of parents and staff and the keenness of children.
“The children have been excellent with the hooks, worms, plants and the land – they think outside the box,” Tara told The Free Press.
Accompanying Tara to the awards presentation in Wagga Wagga were director Chelsea Wright, husband and preschool maintenance Scott Reeves, and educators Dianne White, Rebecca Longmire and Lisa Donaldson.
A first for Corowa Preschool, the award is proudly on display in the Corowa Preschool foyer.
The preschool welcomes all community members to visit the service to see Tara’s award and the many sustainable practices she’s embedded throughout the service.
