Greater Shepparton City Council will be opening a new school crossing at the former Wanganui Park Secondary College campus, which will now be the new Banmira Specialist School.
Junior school students will be starting at the new campus in term one, 2025, with senior students to follow soon.
The new crossing will be on Parkside Dve, between Tyquin St and Gawne Close, and will have a school crossing supervisor to assist children in crossing the road safely.
An electronic sign will be installed near the campus to alert drivers to the updated road conditions, with all motorists advised to be patient and respectful with staff, pedestrians and other road users.
The new crossing will be in the yellow section. Photo: Supplied.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali encouraged drivers to take extra care during the transition period.
“We understand that the opening of the new school and the associated road changes may present an adjustment for our community,” he said.
“We thank everyone for their patience and co-operation as we work together to ensure the safety of students and pedestrians.”
