Held immediately after Melbourne Cup, this year’s festival will start on Wednesday, November 8, building up to the main event — the Country Music Spectacular — on the weekend of November 11 and 12.
“This year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever,” president Allan Weeks said.
“It’s a very popular festival among the RVing community and people are looking forward to coming back to Kyabram for this event.”
However, the committee urgently needs a new secretary after long-term secretary Dossie Grills stepped down from the position at the recent annual general meeting.
“We would love to hear from anyone who is willing to take on this role,” Mr Weeks said.
“Maybe someone who is retired and looking for a new interest, or possibly a younger person who would like to add some practical experience to their resume.”
For more information about the position, phone Dossie Grills on 0407 048 641.
The committee’s recent AGM saw the re-election of Allan Weeks as president, with newcomer Gordon McFarland of Stanhope as the vice-president.
Long-term committee member John Veenstra will continue in his joint role as treasurer and entertainment officer, with Aileen Veenstra as booking officer for festival tickets and campsites.
Sandra Brown was elected publicity officer.
Planning for this year’s festival is well under way, with artists and infrastructure already booked.
However, the committee will need some extra manpower as the festival date draws near.
“We’re an ageing committee and have lost a couple of our long-term volunteers this year, so we’ll be needing some help with the practical side of things, such as set-up, marking out sites at the showgrounds, showing new arrivals to their sites and manning the gates,” Mr Weeks said.
“We’d love to hear from anyone who’s willing to help out.”
The next meeting will be held at the Kyabram Club on Monday, February 13 at 1.30pm. Anyone interested in helping out is most welcome to attend.
