Despite the wintry conditions, our girls began the game well and settled into their own game, trailing just by two goals at the first break. The second quarter saw Tungamah surge ahead with turnovers and accurate shooting. Despite our girls playing great passages of play and tightening our defence in the last two quarters, Tungamah did not give up their lead. Great effort by our young team!

It was a tough game for the girls on Saturday. They applied great pressure all over the court and fought hard for all balls. They worked the defensive and mid court passages well, but Tungamah were too strong. Well done to the juniors filling in and stepping up for a hard game.

Sometimes you’ve got to win ugly, and that’s what the Rovers did on Saturday. Some simple mistakes cost easy goals in the first three quarters. The girls held strong and played strong, direct netball in the last quarter which helped them to win by eight.

A slow start had us playing catch up for the first quarter. Some position changes at quarter time turned a two goal deficit into a four goal lead at half time, which Deni managed to keep and build on for the rest of the game. Interchange players Elena Mulham and Emma East (who both had played a full game in under 17s) held their own against strong opponents. A well fought win.

Another strong team game against Tungamah who didn’t give up. There were strong passages of play up the court, with any turnovers from the opposition pounced on. The girls showed accuracy with shooting and tight defence. Hazel Glowrey stepped up beautifully when her opportunity came. Well done girls.

Steel sharpens steel, and that’s exactly what the girls found out coming up against a strong outfit in Tungamah. When pressure was applied the girls found their next gear and displayed great determination and court play well beyond their years.
