The evening was a testament to the club’s unwavering commitment to supporting various charitable causes, and an opportunity for the club to recognise and honour organisations that strive to impact the lives of those who need it.
“For us to be able to acknowledge the community we live in is really special,” club president Josh Freeman said.
“To acknowledge the work that all of you do in the community and the stories that you talked about tonight are really humbling.
“It makes the work that we (Rotary Club of Shepparton) do — when people are slaving away and doing sausage sizzles and all those sorts of things, or manning gates — worthwhile, knowing that the money we raise is invested in our community.”
The event was graced by representatives from numerous community organisations who were beneficiaries.
Riding for the Disabled Shepparton was among the first to receive its grant, of $3000, followed by the newly established the Rotaract Club of Goulburn Murray, with $1000.
GV Hospice, known for providing compassionate care to those with life-limiting illnesses, was presented with a substantial donation of $10,000. GV Cystic Fibrosis received $1500 to aid its ongoing efforts in supporting individuals affected by this challenging condition.
Local sports and emergency services were not forgotten. The Shepparton Rowing Club and Shepparton Search and Rescue each received $1000 to help them continue their invaluable services.
The evening also saw Giz A Break, Connect GV, Verney Rd School, Shepparton Access, Lemnos Primary School and Headspace Shepparton receiving donations ranging from $2000 to $3300, fostering growth, education and mental health support in the community.
Global outreach and cancer awareness were also at the forefront of the evening. Smiling Hearts Uganda and Rotary Outreach Myeloma Program were presented with $1500 and $2000, respectively.
The evening reached its culmination with a donation of $3800 to Rotary Health Australia, which works tirelessly to fund ground-breaking research in medical and mental health fields.
This contribution showcases the club’s commitment to addressing global health challenges and supporting initiatives that enhance the wellbeing of individuals worldwide.
