In a performance close to a Broadway spectacular, Riverlinks Eastbank is reinvigorating the works of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Hits from Cats, The Phantom Of The Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and The Lion King are on the agenda for Wednesday’s Afternoon Delight session.
With the 74-year-old Englishman regarded as the greatest Broadway and London West End composer of the past 50 years, Riverlinks venues manager Ken Cameron said even if audiences hadn’t been to a Lloyd Webber performance, they’d be hard-pressed not to recognise the songs involved.
“Andrew Lloyd Webber is very well known and the variety of songs in this performance is impressive,” he said.
The show will be led by Australian music theatre and television star Ian Stenlake and award-winning musical theatre singer Michelle Fitzmaurice.
Mr Stenlake was the leading man of the national tour of the ABBA musical Mamma Mia! and spent eight seasons on Channel Nine's Sea Patrol.
Mr Cameron said Afternoon Delights had been enjoyed for many years.
“It is one of our most popular events and I encourage anyone with a couple of hours in their day to come along,” he said.
Sing, laugh, and have a cuppa at Riverlinks Eastbank at 70 Welsford St, Shepparton, on Wednesday, September 7 at 2pm.
Tickets are available via the Riverlinks box office on 03 5832 9511 or online via https://riverlinksvenues.com.au/whats-on/event-details/!/calendar/event/lloyd-webber-afd
