The Deni team of eight - six riders and two support crew - combined with the Cohuna team this year to boost travel numbers.
They departed from Echuca on Saturday, and by the time they reached Port Fairy on Sunday afternoon they had covered about 400km between them.
Deniliquin team member Matt Tubb said as well as being a personal physical challenge for the riders, the annual cycle relay is a great fundraiser.
The Deni team raise money for Deniliquin Hospital, with their tally this year being just over $10,000.
“We couldn’t do it without the support of the local and district businesses who support us,” Mr Tubb said.
“Year after year we do this ride, but it’s all to raise money for our local hospital.
“It allows the hospital to purchase wish list items not covered by government funding.
“Our region is so large, so the pool of funds from government has to spread so far.
“Whatever we raise is specifically for Deniliquin Hospital.”
The ride itself was a smooth one, Mr Tubb said.
“We ride in 20km to 30km stints, with the first leg being Echuca to Stawell. We then drove to Hamilton, from where we travelled the last 90km to Port Fairy on Sunday.
“Sunday included a mandatory stop at Penshurst to break up the ride, and the community there put on a great morning tea for the riders.
“We did get sunny weather all weekend, but we did have a ripping west side wind on the Saturday.”
Mr Tubb said anyone wishing to be involved in fundraising or as part of the cycle team for the 2026 ride is invited to speak to a team member, or call him on 0407 432 710.
