As part of the Intereach Settlement Engagement Transition Support program, multicultural workers spoke to Rochester, Tongala and Echuca locals about cultural awareness and services available through the program.
Multicultural worker Amanda Sam was at Rochester library on Wednesday, March 19.
“Harmony Week is a chance to learn from each other with an open mind and build a real sense of belonging,” she said.
Activities for children were also brought along for the meet and greet.

The SETS team, including Amanda and fellow multicultural worker Sammi Fox, is at headspace Echuca every Tuesday from 9am to 5pm.
SETS provides free settlement support to new arrivals to Australia, assisting them to live independently and connect to the community as they live, work or study around the NSW-Victorian border region.
“(Harmony Week provides) an opportunity to promote the diversity of our cultures, develop a respect for everyone,” Sammi said.
“It’s a chance for us to learn and appreciate others with an open mind and appreciating differences.
“Participating, volunteering and personal contribution to Harmony Week events are key elements to break down many of the perceived barriers in our communities.
“It is important for all members of the community to feel a sense of belonging and inclusion.”
