Powercor de-energised the Echuca Rd site at about 4am Sunday to minimise the safety risk to the community and reduce the potential for long-term damage to infrastructure.
The affected areas are Toolamba, Toolamba West, Dhurringile, Arcadia West, Arcadia, Hendersyde, Murchison, Murchison East and Moorilim.
Parts of Mooroopna were also still without power.
Power was restored to about 4200 customers in Mooroopna, Tatura and the surrounding region on Monday.
A Powercor spokesperson said the restoration of power had come because four generators had been installed and are operating in Tatura, and many homes and businesses have been switched to other parts of the network.
Sites that have been restored include the Tatura relief centre, sewerage pumping and a telecommunications exchange site.
The spokesperson said Powercor was exploring other ways to bring power back to other customers.
Powercor, however, is asking all those residents who have had power restored to only use it for essential purposes.
“Because we are at network capacity, we ask those people to keep it to essential use only by turning off appliances they are not using and setting heating to 21ºC,” the spokesperson said.
By lunchtime Monday, Powercor was also providing bags of ice for people who had lost power.
These can be picked up from Hastie St, Tatura, opposite the Tatura Relief Centre.
