A police investigation into the death of a man after he was allegedly struck by a vehicle on a bushland track at Toolamba on Wednesday, February 26, is continuing.
The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 32-year-old Mooroopna man, allegedly fled the scene before being arrested later on Wednesday.
Police on Sunday confirmed they had released the man pending further inquiries.
The arrest follows the death of a man at a bush track near Pyke Rd.
Police said a 53-year-old, from the Ballarat suburb of Invermay Park, and a friend went to a bush track near Pyke Rd to collect his Ford sedan, which had broken down, about 2.20pm.
Police said upon arrival they noticed several men near the man’s vehicle.
There was a verbal altercation between the parties before the group of men returned to their vehicles, police said.
The Invermay Park man was then allegedly struck by a Mitsubishi Triton ute, police said.
He was flown to hospital, where he later died.
