The men are known to each other. Investigations are continuing.
● A Cobram youth, 17, was arrested and interviewed for the alleged theft of a purse and wallet belonging to volunteers at an opportunity shop in Cobram.
Further investigations by police officers also led to the arrest of man in relation to a burglary and theft in the Cobram area.
● Several cannabis plants were seized by police officers after a search warrant was executed at a Hotchin St, Katamatite address. Investigations are continuing.
● A Numurkah man, 37, was arrested and interviewed in relation to the alleged theft of power tools in Meiklejohn St, Numurkah.
He was charged and bailed to Shepparton Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
● Yarrawonga police officers and fire investigators are investigating the cause of a house fire in Havenstock Dve, Yarrawonga, on March 5.
The house and contents were destroyed by the fire, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
● Overnight on March 4, power tools, including a sander, cordless drill and an angle grinder, were taken from an unlocked ute in McLeod St, Yarrawonga.
The stolen power tools were later discovered in a front yard of a nearby residence.
The tools have been returned to the owner. Any witnesses to the theft from motor vehicle are asked to contact Yarrawonga police station on 5744 3641.
Thieves are targeting tradesmen’s vehicles during the night and stealing expensive power tools, and many of the vehicles have been left unlocked. Please secure your vehicles to avoid becoming a victim.
● Two Oz Tent camp chairs were stolen from a camp on Forges Pump Lane on March 1.
The two chairs are valued at $380. Anyone with any knowledge of the theft is asked to contact the Yarrawonga police station.
● A Yarrawonga man, 24, was arrested and interviewed at Yarrawonga police station in relation to an alleged assault on February 19.
He was charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury and with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence.
He was bailed to appear at Cobram Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
● Across the Labour Day long weekend, Cobram Highway Patrol officers working with Yarrawonga uniform officers, patrolled river tracks and camping areas.
In one two-hour patrol, one drink driver, one suspended driver and one defective vehicle were detected.
Despite this result, most campers were very well behaved.
Similar patrols to deter offending during holiday times will continue until after Easter.
