The new precinct run by SAM - due to open later this year - is accepting expressions of interest from parties looking to run a rooftop bar and multi-function centre, open to the public.
The idea for the establishment - tenant pending - would be a bar open to the public several nights a week, paired with the café at ground level, with a full kitchen and outdoor dining space available.
The museum's request for expressions of interest reads that an experienced vendor to fit the style of the building and organisation was preferred.
“SAM is seeking to partner with an experienced and entrepreneurial hospitality operator to deliver an exceptional and mutually beneficial café and bar experience to museum and other visitors,” the application notice read.
“SAM is seeking a café operator with style, flair and business acumen who can maximise this rare and unique opportunity to create a high-quality café and bar experience that complements and enhances the visitor experience offered at SAM."
The café and fully furnished kitchen are on the ground floor with a joint deck and grass area/ It is accessible through the building and the grass area leading to the walking path at the lake.
The rooftop bar and multi-function area are on level four, with a rooftop viewing deck.
“The café and the bar must be conceptually sympathetic with SAM, ensuring a steady flow of cultural tourists.”
Applications close on February 26, and the museum's opening is expected in the latter half of 2021.
