Murray Local Land Services’ revamped Vertebrate Pesticide Induction Training (VPIT) course is for you.
To acquire and use 1080, Pindone, RHDV or PAPP baits in NSW, you need to be accredited with an AQF3 Chemical Accreditation or Vertebrate Pesticide Induction Training (VPIT) course certification.
The free VPIT course takes participants through the requirements for the safe and effective use of baits and pesticides to control pest animals.
The VPIT course covers:
- legislation and legal obligations
- baiting techniques
- toxicity
- storage
- transport
- how to reduce non-target exposure.
After successfully completing the course, participants will be certified to use 1080, Pindone, PAPP and RHDV baits for five years.
Participants will benefit from infographics, videos and animations designed to make the course content more engaging and easier to understand.
Through the VPIT course you will learn all about safety, the legalities and practical tips to get the best result from your baiting.
The course helps landholders meet their legislative requirements while protecting the environment, trade and non-target species.
Local Land Services also offers a face-to-face VPIT course in a three-hour training session at select locations across the state, depending on demand.
In registering for this course, you will be required to provide your full name and contact details.
These will be used to populate your certificate upon successful completion of all modules and exams.
Ensure that you keep your certificate accessible, as it will be required by Local Land Services staff when collecting baits.
A certification from the VPIT course does not permit a person to use any pesticides other than 1080, Pindone, RHDV or PAPP.
This course does not provide accreditation for the use of Canid Pest Ejectors.
Please contact your nearest Local Land Services Office to find out more about the Canid Pest Ejector Training.
