Pedestrian, 67, taken to hospital after incident with car

A 67-year-old woman was taken to GV Health after an incident involving a car at Riverside Plaza in Kialla.

Shepparton police said the woman was taken to hospital with a laceration to her head after being “bumped at low speed” and falling to the ground.

The incident occurred at 10.25am on Friday, November 3 in the Riverside Plaza car park.

First Constable Jason Lloyd-Sanderson said investigations were continuing, but the incident appeared to have been a simple accident, with neither the 72-year-old driver, who was exiting a parking area, nor the pedestrian seeing the other.

He praised the response from workers in the shopping centre and the public for quickly assisting the woman, who did not appear to be seriously injured.

“It was a great community response. We had staff doing traffic direction, bystanders assisting with first aid and AV (Ambulance Victoria) were there very quickly,” he said.

“Everyone was fantastic.”

No charges have been laid.
