Coronavirus cut back the end of last summer’s season, but restrictions easing will allow competition to resume in groups of 10.
Shepparton Athletics Club’s Alana Baldi said it was “really exciting” to be back on the track, but there would still be restrictions in place and every participant needed to register before Friday.
All meets will be COVID-19 safe, with masks to be worn before and after events and no spectators until Victorian Government restrictions change.
“Memberships can be tailored to suit your needs depending on the type of competitions you wish to compete in,” Baldi said.
“All participants need to be signed up as a club member at minimum prior to the first night of competition to be eligible to compete due to COVID restrictions.
“Minimum club membership is required to cover participants’ insurance.”
Baldi said returning would be a huge boost after sport faced widespread cancellation through autumn and winter.
“There are a lot of mental health benefits to exercise and being around a sporting community,” she said.
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve never competed before, we’ve got beginners up to people preparing for masters and nationals.
“We’re looking to engage with people with disabilities as well.”
Club competition nights are held on Fridays starting at 5.30 pm and the club is on the look-out for volunteers to help keep things running during events.
