On at the Numurkah town hall from March 5 to 8, the exhibition's 41st edition will be another bumper event, set to benefit the town, according to committee chair Lou Hamon.
“The Art and Craft Exhibition of the Rotary Club of Numurkah has raised over $287,000 for local charities, thanks to the generous support of exhibitors, sponsors and the community,” he said.
“Entries have been received from local artists as well as artists throughout Victoria, South Australia, NSW and Queensland.”
A total of 20 awards will be crowned to winning entries, with a prize pool of $10,000.
Art judge Geoff Paynter will adjudicate the painted works, with categories spanning from best in show, oil, watercolour, pastel and regional artist awards. Additionally, a Moira Arts and Culture Inc encouragement gong for Moira Shire residents will be presented.
Claire Reid is locked in to judge the crafts section, where seven trophies, including best craft exhibit, are up for grabs.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the Rotary club is raffling an oil painting by John Thomas, valued at $525.
Mr Hamon also eluded to a series of add-ons to complement the art on display.
“Rotary District Governor Bruce Anderson will officially open the art and craft exhibition on Friday evening at 8.30 pm,” he said.
“A feature of the opening night will be a wine and cheese tasting, courtesy of Monichino Wines. Musical entertainment will be provided by pianist Geoff Austin.
“Following the official opening the judges will announce the winners in the various sections, with their comments, with the evening concluding with supper.
“The exhibition is registered as a COVID-Safe event, requiring recording details of all attendees, social distancing, good personal hygiene, with hand sanitiser and wipes available.”
Opening night admission is $8, which includes supper, while entry for the remainder of the days is $5. Admission includes a copy of the catalogue of the works on display.
