Nominations are being accepted for the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame, which pays recognition to the iconic men and women who have scaled the heights of their chosen code.
Greater Shepparton City Council lists the criteria for Hall of Fame nominees as having made a significant contribution to their sport at the Australian representative level.
Additionally, expressions of interest for Greater Shepparton Hall of Fame Honour Roll and Junior Honour Roll inductees have also been put forward by council.
Senior Honour Roll eligibility is judged by nominees contributing to their sport at either national or state level.
Junior Honour Roll eligibility is judged by nominees competing successfully in junior competition at Australian representative level.
With its ideology to laud the competitive success of Greater Shepparton residents past and present, council’s community director Kaye Thomson welcomed nominations as a means to add to the city's already rich sporting tapestry.
“Greater Shepparton is well-known for having a strong sporting identity, both locally and at state and national level,” Thomson said.
“The Sports Hall of Fame was established to recognise the achievement of Greater Shepparton sports people who have made a significant contribution to their sport at the Australian and state representative level.”
Nominations close December 4, 2020, and can be made via council’s website greatershepparton.com.au/sports-hall-of-fame
Nominees and their nominators will be invited to attend the Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
