Unfortunately mine, like many, was confronted with the tragic news of Aussie icon Shane Warne’s passing, the absolute legend will be missed.
Today is looking to be a bit warm with tops of 30 degrees.
UPDATE, 5.15pm: College students leading in the right direction
In a nice sign off for the day, the future is looking bright for students of Greater Shepparton Secondary College as their new student leaders pave the way for student leadership at the school.

UPDATE, 2.40 pm: How about a hit of ball
Inclement weather wreaked havoc on the first weekend of Cricket Shepparton finals, with a number of fixtures moved from Saturday to Sunday to ensure all matches were completed heading into the semi-finals.
Newman’s blistering ton spearheaded Kyabram to a 56-run win at Deakin Reserve, securing the Redbacks safe passage to a semi-final.
Coming back to blue skies on Sunday, sixth-placed Numurkah sent shockwaves through the finals series, knocking off undefeated minor premier Waaia by five wickets.
In case you missed it, the blue and white of Ardmona will not be found gracing the fields and courts of Kyabram District League in 2022, after the club announced its decision to go into recess on Friday night.
UPDATE, 12 pm: Social housing hearing closed to the public and media
The News’ Chief Correspondent Darren Linton was all lined up to live-blog the social housing hearing this morning, but has been informed the two days of in-person submissions on a proposal to build social housing above a CBD car park will not be open to the public or media.
Council publicly advertised its intention to sell/gift the land above the Maude St, Nixon St, Edward St public car park for a social housing development and The News understands as many as 700 submissions were received.
Committee members of Residents 4 A Greater Shepparton received advice from Council this morning that the closed hearings were due to COVID-19.
In the email Council said the briefing session will be recorded and made publicly available on YouTube from mid-March.

UPDATE, 10.40 am: Police investigating fatal crash in Wunghnu this morning
A person has died after a car crashed into a tree near Wunghnu on Monday, March 7.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said a passer-by discovered the scene of the crash on Boundary Rd about 5am.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.

Guthrie Street Primary School has a new student, he’s a little more furry than the others and perhaps a little cuter, but Louis the labradoodle is a welcome addition as the school’s new wellbeing dog. @Tyler Maher can we please get an office dog?
Today kicks off the very first day of Shepparton Music Week! A first in the region, the week will offer a range of workshops and live music events to promote and foster the growth of creatives in the region. Tonight’s event is an in-conversation between Brady Jones and Neil Morris, check the full program here.
Nagambie has got itself a new fire station, officially opened last week by CFA chief officer Jason Heffernan. Although unofficially opened in June 2020, Mr Heffernan said the $1.59 million facility will be an “asset to the thriving Nagambie brigade”.
Unfortunately, a severe weather warning has been issued for eastern NSW with intense and heavy rain expected to cause more inundation in already saturated and flooded areas.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he can “understand” the frustration of flood victims in NSW and Queensland, as clean-up efforts continue. He said there are more than 2000 ADF personnel on standby.

The digital edition of Friday, March 4 is still unavailable via the app or website. Also, today’s edition is not yet available.
PressReader, the third-party digital replica provider, is continuing to experience network outages. Late Friday PressReader systems administrators were successful in repairing its sites to a level that gives readers access to editions prior to Friday.
Their development team is still working around the clock to restore availability of the most recent editions. It is their highest priority.
