Benalla families will soon be able to enjoy new playgrounds throughout the district with four set to receive upgrades in the coming weeks.

The locations are:

  • Bicentennial Park, Devenish;
  • Cook St Reserve, Benalla;
  • Jaycee Island Reserve, Benalla; and
  • Mackellar St Reserve, Benalla.

Benalla Rural City Council Mayor Bernie Hearn said delivering four new playgrounds were a great result for families with young children.

“The playgrounds will provide a great public area for the local community to come together, socialise and play, and will improve the overall amenity of our townships,” Cr Hearn said.

“Our parks and reserves are much loved by local families and visitors to our towns, but some of the equipment is definitely in need of an update.

“This new equipment will bring the spaces up to modern expectations for outdoor play areas and revitalise these areas for generations to come.”

Work to remove the old equipment has started with playgrounds temporarily closed until the new installation has been completed.

Weather permitting, work will be completed by the end of March.
