Undertaking a COVID-safe music concert in front of parents, grandparents and friends, sixteen students from years 1 to 6 played their set pieces.
According to music teacher Fleur Smith, the students, who take music as an extra subject, spent most of this year with their lessons on Zoom, so she was very pleased to see their commitment and proud of their performances.
Let the music play: Avenel Primary School principal Ross Davis, music teacher Fleur Smith and pianist William Muggleton.
One student played Beethoven while others played pop music, with the rest of the school clapping their hands to one of the tunes.
The staging, in good country style, was the back of a semi-trailer provided by district resident Ross Wheeler.
Complementing the music, principal Ross Davis conducted a newly-formed school choir.
The concert was the first time the school’s new digital piano had been on show. The piano was acquired from a grant from the Australian Rail Track Corporation, for which Mr Davis said he was most grateful as the piano had the capacity to expand musical appreciation for all students.
