Councillors have elected Julia Cornwell McKean as Mayor and re-elected Deputy Mayor Carly Marriott at a session of council on Wednesday, September 20.
Cr McKean and Cr Marriott will hold their respective positions for a 12-month period, until September 2024.
Cr McKean said she was honoured to be elected as the first Indigenous Mayor of Berrigan Shire.
“Thank you to my fellow councillors for their continued support and I look forward to serving Berrigan shire for the remainder of my term," Cr McKean said.
Cr McKean takes over from outgoing mayor Matthew Hannan who held the position for the past seven years.
