If you were to ask anyone in the Greater Shepparton community who knows Ms Scott how best to describe her they would say she is passionate, motivated and loyal.
It is these characteristics that make her perfect for the role as ambassador.
Ms Scott will be a key representative of the foundation, acting as a public face for the organisation and advocating for its goals and values.
“I am honoured to be asked to take on this role,” Ms Scott said.
“The work that the GV Health Foundation does and has done for a number of years is extremely important for our region.”
Ms Scott was diagnosed with bowel cancer in March 2022 and has since bravely endured two major surgeries, all while continuing her role with Goulburn Murray Community Leadership.
“Being a current patient at GV Health, I see first-hand the important work the foundation does,” she said.
“I feel very fortunate to be able to access these health supports in my home town, and I want to do anything I can to make sure all future GV Health patients and their families experience similar or even better health outcomes.
“I have always had a deep passion for supporting people — so I see myself as someone that can effectively advocate on behalf of others.”
GV Health Foundation and Engagement director Claire Ewart-Kennedy said Ms Scott was a person of high calibre who worked tirelessly to support the region.
“She is a wonderful representative of our community,” she said.
“As the inaugural ambassador, Vicki will … work to fill the gaps in the health service and run campaigns to fund important needs such as the integrated cancer centre, dedicated programs for families in the early parenting centre, clinical health school and staff accommodation.”
GV Health Foundation is also excited to announce it will host its first hallmark event later this year: Ladies Who Lunch.
“It is with great excitement that the GV Health Foundation announces a hallmark event to be known as Ladies Who Lunch, an event dedicated to women’s health and oncology services in the Goulburn Valley region at GV Health,” Mrs Ewart-Kennedy said.
She said GV Health and GV Health Foundation had been direct beneficiaries of the outstanding fundraising efforts of the Shepparton Biggest Blokes Lunch, and it was the tremendous efforts of the Pink Ribbon Brunch that inspired her to host Ladies Who Lunch.
“The GV Health Foundation recognises and pays homage to all the wonderful past sponsors and supporters of these important community events, and we are excited to deliver an inaugural hallmark event dedicated to the women of the Goulburn Valley,” she said.
