The first stage of structural steel works and brickwork was completed in late December, while the second and third stages have recently been concluded.
Moira Shire Council CEO Matthew Morgan said council hit a major milestone late last year when pouring and curing the concrete slab was completed.
“With the foundations complete, we’ve been able to begin installing the structural steel frame along the northern and eastern sides of the Town Hall building, which is expected to continue over the next couple of weeks,” Mr Morgan said.
“Continuing to see steady progress on this project is exciting for council and for the community, who are seeing a long-awaited project turn into reality.
“Once the framework is completed, construction will move to the roofing and mechanical phases during autumn and winter, before the internal fit out begins in the second half of 2025.
“We’re anticipating construction works being completed in early 2026, and we’ll work with Goulburn Valley Libraries to officially open and celebrate the new library in the new year.
“Council will keep the community updated as the project reaches major milestones over the coming months.”
Stage one of the $11.26 million Yarrawonga Library, Events and Performance Precinct redevelopment includes construction of the new, state of the art library, with community meeting spaces, gallery and foyer area, and a café with commercial kitchen.
The $11.26 million project is expected to be open in early 2026.
This space will serve as a community hub offering meeting spaces and access to technology.
Stage two of the project will be informed by the workings of the advisory group, which is working with Council to refine the future uses for the Town Hall and resolve the necessary upgrades required to preserve the building and activate it as a contemporary event space.
The facility is expected to be open in early 2026.
This project is jointly funded by Moira Shire Council, the Victorian Government's Community Infrastructure Loan Scheme and Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
