Competing as a Victorian finalist, the organisation said Ms Mukasa “used her initiative and kindness to bring girls together”.
“She was a cheerleader for the other entrants throughout the program, and saw the benefits of working together,” the organisation said.
Ms Mukasa said the title reflected Australian Supermodel of the Year’s values of inclusivity and empowering women of all backgrounds and body types.
She said these values were part of the reason she entered the competition to begin with, and that she was excited to be recognised for it.
Pageant finalist: Neema Mukasa is also a national finalist in Miss Galaxy Australia, a national pageant competition.
“I think that definitely did come through because I definitely believe everyone should have a voice,” she said.
“And I also believe that the modelling industry is now going towards increasing inclusivity.”
As the Sisterhood Ambassador, Ms Mukasa will go on to become a mentor to future participants in the competition, as well as participate in modelling opportunities.
Ms Mukasa, who lives in Melbourne, is also a national finalist for the Miss Galaxy Australia pageant, with finals to be held in Sydney next month.
She said she was excited to advocate for inclusivity in all areas.
“I want to show other people from my background they can also do it too,” she said.
