Although Lisa wasn’t yet fully-licensed, she was still able to write and perform the ceremony, while a registered celebrant did the official signing.
Since then, Lisa has completed her studies and conducted a range of weddings, as well as some funerals, across the region.
“I love a wedding, and I thought it was something really lovely to be able to do,” Lisa said.
“It was something that I’ve looked at doing for many years.”
Lisa prides herself on offering a personalised experience each time, acknowledging the fact that every couple has different needs and wants.
“I think I fall in love with every story, it’s so beautiful hearing people’s lives and being able to write a whole celebration of that,” Lisa said.
“How you can make everyone’s idea of a wedding come into fruition, it’s beautiful.
“I say to people when I’m interviewing them and getting their story, ‘I think I cry every time.’”
Lisa guides couples throughout the entire process, and presents them with a unique package celebrating their ceremony and vows for them to remember long after their special day.
Alongside weddings, Lisa has also been requested to facilitate funeral services.
“I’ve been honoured to conduct some funerals, which is a whole other beautiful thing to be able to do,” Lisa said.
“I get to tell it (the story of someone’s life) from their loved one’s perspective, and it is a really beautiful thing to be able to give.
“It’s such an honour; I know that loved ones don’t always have the ability at the time to say what they need to, so I always ensure I’m doing it justice for them.”
Lisa said she is also grateful not only to have received support from her clients, but also to have been well-received within the local community of celebrants.
“Many businesses are cutthroat, but celebrants have a little mantra which is ‘community over competition’,” Lisa said.
“I do have to mention Sheree Tivendale, who’s a celebrant, and her guidance throughout this has been amazing, straight from the get-go.”
Despite having strong connections with others in the industry, what sets Lisa apart is her connection to the region.
“I’m a local, so I’ve got a very beautiful network with lots of the venues and lots of the suppliers as well,” Lisa said.
It is also Lisa’s passion for ensuring that anyone using her service walks away remembering their dream day with heartfelt joy that allows her to excel as a celebrant.
“I cater for the individual people, for whatever occasion,” Lisa said.
“I hope that their weddings are exactly what they wanted and they remember them with a big smile.”
