These mysterious cameras were installed by Greater Shepparton City Council last week to conduct traffic studies throughout the Central Business District.
The News was told Data Audit Systems were collecting data on behalf of the council for a traffic study to measure the existing function of the road network at more than 80 locations around Shepparton.
The study ends today, with the cameras installed on Friday last week.
A council spokesperson said the traffic study preparation involved the installation of cameras to monitor traffic for origin-destination travel and turning movements, regular checking of cameras and the installation of traffic counters.
The spokesperson said a traffic survey was also conducted yesterday which involved several vehicles doing travel time surveys during peak hours.
