Seymour’s Hudson Kaak led from the front with five goals in his third game of the season, while Shepparton’s Cam Wild and Shepparton United’s Jye Chalcraft tore the Geelong Falcons apart through the midfield.
The Bushrangers started the game off on the back foot, until they pinched the lead at the end of the second term to be two points up at half-time.
A half-time discussion about intent on the football resulted in a five-goal third term from Murray to build a 15-point lead at three-quarter-time.
Murray did not hold back in the final quarter, with Kaak kicking three goals to seal the 14.8 (92) to 10.11 (71) win.
‘‘It was really a tale of two halves, in the first half we lacked execution and application to the contest, but in the second half we turned things around,’’ Bushrangers coach Mark Brown said.
‘‘Our intent at the contest rose twofold and as a result we picked up our foot skills and every facet of our game improved.
‘‘It was the best half of football that we have played together.
‘‘It just shows that when we bring that intensity we can play a great brand of football.’’
Wild collected 27 possessions, four marks and five inside-50s, while Chalcraft had 26 disposals, eight clearances and four marks.
United’s Zane Barzen stood tall in his return to the side, clunking seven marks and booting two goals.
Brown gave credit to his midfield duo and to Seymour’s talented forward for helping clinch the win.
‘‘Jye’s intent on the contest is remarkable, sometimes he makes you shut your eyes when he attacks the contest, he gives 110 per cent,’’ he said.
‘‘Cam has an incredible work-rate and it’s a result of hard work, both him and Jye helped set the tone for our attack in the second half.
‘‘Hudson played a great game, he’s had to wait for his opportunity, but he has grabbed it with both hands, which is a credit to him.’’
The result against Geelong lifts the Bushrangers to 14th on the ladder as they prepare for a home clash against the Calder Cannons this weekend.
