“After the buzz from carols last year and conversations that followed about getting another market happening, we thought why not go all out and organise an event that would not only be wonderful for the Murchison community but one that the whole region could come and enjoy,” event producer Bridie Sanderson said.
“I grew up out here and there was always fun events happening. I love this small town and have kids now too, and I want them to have similar experiences.
“Louis (Bowden) and I had the idea, but we couldn’t possibly pull it off ourselves and needed a lot of help with funding to make it possible, which thankfully we now have.”
The community centre and car park in Murchison is set to transform into a winter wonderland on June 24 where music, market stalls, food trucks and a variety of family-friendly entertainment can be enjoyed by all, thanks to Music Victoria, Greater Shepparton City Council, Neighbourhood House Murchison and Victoria, and JL Productions and Hire.
“The collaboration of support towards the event has been amazing,” Neighbourhood House Murchison manager Louis Bowden said.
“The event will bring community together, showcase this spectacular town and give businesses and local artists the opportunity to interact and engage locally.
“Warm vibe, family fun and something for everyone.”
The centre stage will come alive with an incredible line-up of talented artists, including Bec Hance, Fortessima, Nick Rijs and Madi Colville-Walker.
The Murchison SES and Men’s Shed are located nearby, and will be opening their doors to offer a look at their facilities.
Magical lights, beautiful rugs and comfortable cushions will deck the inside of the community hall as a warm environment in which to sit, enjoy and eat. There will be a silent disco, and face-painting for the kids.
“Make the most of the season, rug up, bring your loved ones and immerse yourself in the enchantment that is going to be an incredible night, at Murchison’s winter festival.” Mrs Sanderson said.
