Cobram Highway Patrol Police pulled the rider over on the Benalla-Tocumwal Rd on Saturday, May 20.
Cobram police Sergeant William Dockrey said the 50 year-old Finley man had only had the motorbike for three weeks.
It was impounded and the man was charged with excessive speeding. He will appear in court at a later date.
The incident happened in the same area as two recent fatal crashes.
One was between a truck and car on May 4, the other was on April 20 and resulted in the deaths of five people after a car, ute and truck collided on the corner of Labuan Rd and the Murray Valley Hwy.
