Brothers Adain, 11, and Brax Smith, 9, each received laptops, after the Lighthouse Project reached out to principal Nathan Neff.
“I thought they have been working really well, and they were over the moon,” he said.
Laptops with Love co-ordinator Kathy Fuller said since they launched the initiative at the end of 2021, 30 laptops had been given to students in need.
“The program is quite simplistic,” she said.
“But the benefits are endless for our young people.”
The family lives in Shepparton, but drives to Wunghnu daily so Adain, Brax and their sister could attend the school.
“It was just really lovely to see two boys who find learning difficult rewarded for their efforts,” Mr Neff said.
The Laptops with Love program partners with Goulburn-Murray Water, Goulburn Valley Water and other corporations to refurbish old laptops, with the aim to help local students with their education.
“What’s nice about this program is it’s retained within the community,” she said.
“It’s increasing education and employment opportunities.”
