38 students from the schools band will travel to the Gold Coast this month to perform at a range of different venues including Queenslands largest shopping centre, Pacific Fair.
The schools Music Director, Ms Lindy Tennant said the week long tour will be a wonderful opportunity for the students.
‘‘It’s a way to celebrate their hard work,’’ Ms Tennant said.
‘‘Music brings some amazing challenges, both emotionally and educationally’’ she said.
The students from years seven to eleven will perform a range of eclectic music including songs from Adele and Queen.
Ms Tennant said the students have devoted themselves to the tour by practicing at home and after school.
‘‘We perform regularly in the community so these kids are not shy of getting up on stage’’ she said.
‘‘They are use to it and know the rewards it brings’’.
The tour will give the young adults a deeper love and understanding for music but will also give students the opportunity to grow their team building skills.
‘‘It’s about working as a team, we will playing together, packing up and setting up as a team,’’ she said.
Although the students have a jammed packed performance schedule, the band will have a few opportunites to relax and have fun while on the road.
Ms Tennant said only two or three of the students have been to Queensland before.
‘‘They are all pretty excited that we are going to the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary, Wet and Wild, Movie World, Sea World, so we will have a bit of fun time too’’.
The students will set off for their tour on Saturday July 13th.
