The event aims to help business owners in Mooroopna recover some losses after two years of a pandemic, in and out of lockdown.
The day will allow clothing stores to showcase spring and summer range of clothing in a “Kickstart Kool Klothes Kollection” fashion parade.
There will also be pop-up shops available for other Mooroopna business owners to sell stock.
Club members want to make sure people get a bang for their buck, offering discount vouchers for the clothing stores, afternoon tea and beverages, all included in the entry fee.
The discount vouchers can be used on the day or after the event in any of the participating stores.
Lucky door prizes, with items from participating businesses, will also be available on the day.
Club vice-president Tony Nappa said the Super K event will help boost the sales of local businesses in the area and encourage people to shop local.
“Because of COVID-19 people shop online and local businesses and shops are not bouncing back and Kiwanis acknowledges that,’’ he said.
“This fun event is designed to help businesses regain some of what they’ve lost to COVID-19.
“We’re helping everyone who works in the businesses as well, not just the owners.”
Mr Nappa works delivering packages and has seen first-hand how the increase of buying online takes away from local businesses.
“There’s been an increase in overseas sales and it’s been detrimental to local businesses even now,’’ he said.
“One advantage of going back to your local store is you can see the items right in front of you and try things on, can’t do that online.”
Kiwanis clubs support local communities through volunteering and fundraising with a large emphasis on children and their development.
Mr Nappa said the club’s motto, which is improving the world one child and one community at a time, is a driving factor in events such as this one.
“Kiwanis cares about kids, kids need Kiwanis and Kiwanis needs kids,’’ he said.
“We like to change a child's life one child at a time, one community at a time, that’s our motto.
“Children have parents who have had their challenges, dealing financially and emotionally with COVID-19 and own businesses in the area.
“We want to help those parents in the road to economic recovery by hosting this Super K event to boost their sales.”
“If you support your town then there's going to be jobs for your kids.”
Preference will go to Mooroopna business owners for the event, then the club will look at opening it up to surrounding areas like Tatura, Dookie and Shepparton if spots are available.
Ticket prices and more information on the event will be available closer to the date.
The Mooroopna Kiwanis Club is also seeking donations of pop-up change room tents for the event.
If you would like to donate one to the club, express interest for your business to be involved in this event or join as a member to become a part of the good work the Kiwanis Club does, contact secretary Murray Shields on 5825 2686 or Mr Nappa on 0408 575 192.
