Michael Tudball started on Monday, October 23 and will stay in his position for six months.
Council panel of administrators chair John Tanner said Mr Tudball’s experience would be an asset to the community.
“We believe that Michael Tudball’s wealth of experience in local and state government, including his previous role as CEO of Southern Grampians Shire Council and recent role as interim Chief Executive Officer at Corangamite Shire Council, makes him an excellent choice for the interim CEO position,” Mr Tanner said.
“His extensive background aligns with our commitment to providing stable leadership during this transitional period.”
Mr Tudball’s career includes serving as a councillor and mayor for Moorabool Shire.
Additionally, he has held directorships in various organisations, including Hindmarsh Shire Council, the Department of Transport and Planning, Grampians Tourism, Great South Coast Regional Partnerships and the CFA.
It is hoped Mr Tudball’s appointment will provide the council with normality and allow it to find a permanent chief executive.
Since the March commission of inquiry, many executive members have been thrust into acting roles.
This includes Joshua Lewis, who has been acting chief executive since the departure of Clare Kennan.
The panel of administrators described Mr Lewis’s conduct as acting chief executive as extraordinary and thanked him for his diligent work under trying circumstances.
For his part, Mr Tudball hopes his appointment allows for some stability.
“My main objective is to continue to bring stability and effective governance to Moira Shire Council,” Mr Tudball said.
“I am here to support the hard work of our dedicated staff and to work with the panel of administrators and recruitment consultant towards finding a permanent CEO who will guide Moira Shire into the future.”
Mr Tudball emphasised the importance of transparency and earning the community’s confidence.
“I aim to be accessible to the community, encouraging open dialogue and creating an environment of trust and faith in your council,” he said.
“Your voices matter, and I am here to listen and ensure that your concerns and ideas are heard and appropriately considered.”
